Kalu Rinpoche Karma Rangjung Kunkyab
  • 1904: he was born in Dhokham, Teshoe.His father was Palsang Trulku and his mother’s name was Drolkar.
  • He received teachings on sutra, tantra, kangyur, terma, empowerments and transmissions from Jamgon Khyentse Oser and many other masters from all schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
  • He spent most of his time in remote places and perfected the accomplishment of what is to be abandoned and what is to be cultivated.
  • He became the lineage holder of the Shangpa tradition and made a great contribution to the flourishing of the teaching.
  • He visited both East and West, spreading the Dharma, and had students worldwide, including Kagyu fathers and heart sons, and many other eminent students.
  • He established a new retreat centre and lay the foundations of Kagyu Monlam in India.
  • He performed a number of outstanding dharma activities.
  • 1989: he passed into parinirvana at the age of eighty-five.
