Pre-Monlam Schedule Spring 2012 in Bodh Gaya

Last updated on Feb 16, 2012

The 29th Kagyu Monlam has been moved to Spring 2012 and will be held from 1st – 8th March. Consequently, this Monlam will coincide with the annual end-of-year Mahakala Puja. Therefore, the Gyalwang Karmapa has asked the Kagyu Monlam organization to take responsibility for both.

At the time of the Seventh Karmapa Choedrak Gyatso, the Great Garchen Prayer Gathering began on the 1st day of the First Tibetan month and ended on the Full Moon day. In 2012, we will be able to follow their example. Before Monlam we will offer the annual end-of-year Mahakala Puja. This will be the first time that the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa has had the opportunity to participate in a large-scale, complete Mahakala Puja since he came to India in 2000.
