An Invitation from 29th Kagyu Monlam Organization

Introduction
Two thousand five hundred years ago under the bodhi tree, Lord Buddha, out
of his immeasurable compassion, transformed Mara’s daggers of hatred into
flowers that filled the skies. By the end of that night, he had achieved
full enlightenment on that sacred site. Many generations later, we gather at
this very same spot under the bodhi tree with Buddhas, bodhisattvas, and
reincarnated lamas to pray for the well-being of all sentient beings.
In his New Year’s message, His Holiness the 17th Karmapa told us that if we
develop compassion and work for the benefit of all sentient beings, we have
nothing to fear, whatever happens. This is an opportunity to do that, to
become like a bright lamp dispelling the darkness and working for the
benefit of other sentient beings, transforming afflictions into wisdom and
daggers into the pure land of peace and happiness.
