Announcing the Schedule for the Thirty-Fifth Kagyu Monlam

The Kagyu Monlam is held annually in Bodhgaya in order to bring happiness to sentient beings. There has been no further change to the dates for the 35th Monlam, but the Gyalwang Karmapa has requested Chamgön Tai Situ Rinpoche and Kyabje Goshri Gyaltsap Rinpoche to preside over the event. However, Chamgön Tai Situ Rinpoche has other activities scheduled for that time, so His Holiness made a heartfelt request to Goshri Gyaltsap Rinpoche, who has agreed to preside over the Monlam.

The schedule of the Monlam will be as follows:

During the Pre-Monlam Teachings from February 22–24, 2018, in the mornings, Goshri Gyaltsap Rinpoche will teach from the Aspiration of the Mahamudra of Definitive Meaning by the Third Karmapa Rangjung Dorje, and in the afternoons, Kyabje Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche will present a review and meditation instructions.

The Kagyu Monlam will be held from February 26–March 4, 2018. The program will include the Medicine Buddha puja, recitation of the Kangyur, reading the Akshobhya Sutras, the Sixteen Arhats procession, Cotton-Clad procession, the Offerings to the Gurus, prayers to avert obstacles, and prayers for the well-being of Tibet, among other prayers, as in previous years.

On March 5, 2018, there will be a Red Crown Ceremony in the morning, and the events will conclude with the Marme Monlam in the evening.
