Offerings and prayers with Tai Situ Rinpoche at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya

Offerings and prayers with Tai Situ Rinpoche at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya

10 January 2024

Two days after arriving in Bodhgaya to preside over the Kagyu Monlam, on the morning of January 10th, Guru Vajradhara H.H. the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa visited the sacred Mahabodhi Temple and grounds. Accompanying him were Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, Kyungpo Gyalton Rinpoche and Tsoknyi Rinpoche. They were greeted at the main gate by the Secretary of the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee, the Head Monk, and other dignitaries, who escorted them on their pilgrimage.

Guru Vajradhara went directly to the main shrine room on the ground floor of the Mahabodhi Stupa where he paid homage to the golden Buddha Shakyamuni statue. He offered a new set of silk robes and alms bowls filled with fruit and other edible substances. Thus, he and his entourage performed the ritual of offerings and aspiration prayers to commemorate the Buddha’s kindness.

Guru Vajradhara then proceeded to the bodhi tree where he led prayers dedicated to the flourishing of the Buddha’s teachings and the welfare of all sentient beings.

Following these prayers, he and his entourage made both the outer and the inner circumambulations of the sacred stupa.
